DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS
Throughout the principal preparation program, we completed multiple school site visits in the Triangle area (Durham Public Schools, Chapel Hill - Carrboro City Schools, Granville County Public Schools, among others). Each semester, we focused on a particular developmental age group.
At the end of each semester, our cohort worked in groups to develop a developmental project that encompassed our understanding of the development milestones and needs of students for that age group as well as the implications this learning had on us a future school leaders.
The developmental project is a summary report on child development at the elementary, middle and high school levels. It was created to share with the district’s superintendent, board of education, parents, and newly hired teachers what students should be able to do developmentally at this age.
