STANDARD SEVEN - Micropolitical Leadership
Principals will build systems and relationships that utilize the staff ’s diversity, encourage constructive ideological conflict in order to leverage staff expertise, power and influence in order to realize the school’s vision for success. The principal will also creatively employ an awareness of staff ’s professional needs, issues, and interests to build cohesion and to facilitate distributed governance and shared decision making.
Element 7A - School Executive Micropolitical Leadership:

This year, I had the opportunity to participate in Durham Public Schools' Assistant Principal Leadership Academy, led by Dr. Stacy Stewart, the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School Transformation. I have attached a sample agenda for one of the meetings below. Some of the outcomes of this networking and learning opportunity included:

- I gained a better understanding of all standards through the 90 Day Entry Plan Discussions, various departmental presentations, and application of standards in areas beyond the principalship.
